Classic design; revolutionary grilling
The kettle grill is where it all started with Weber - George Stephen Sr. thought up the idea of a covered barbecue whilst working at Weber Brothers Metal Works in Chicago, Illinois making marine buoys. He cut a buoy in half, made some adjustments, and the Original Kettle was born.
By advocating covering food whilst grilling it, George Stephen started a cooking revolution - the cover allowed for greater control over the airflow and temperature, whilst reducing the possibility of flareups which cause the dreaded 'burnt outside, raw inside' barbecue mistakes.
Because the kettles were made from marine buoys, they were extremely durable and lasted for much longer than their inferior quality rivals. Today, although the range has expanded and been developed considerably, the focus on durability and cooking excellence still persists in all the kettles produced by Weber.
The Compact Kettle range comes in two sizes, 47cm and 57cm, and feature an impressive 10 year limited warranty. Perfect for small back gardens, these grills feature the Weber quality you'd expect, in a compact, great value offering.
Innovation never stops at Weber, and so for 2017 they have introduced the Kettle Plus GBS 47cm. Perfect for those who are short on space but big on grilling ideas, the Kettle Plus includes the Gourmet BBQ System - a cooking grate into which you can insert most of the GBS inserts, excluding Dutch Oven, pre 2017 Wok, Poultry roaster and Sandwich Iron. The GBS system allows you to add more strings to your bow and create restaurant quality food in your back garden.
The Original Kettle 57cm is the continuation of the first and most revolutionary barbecue George Stephen Sr. made. Extra features have been added, for example the lid mounted thermometer and the One-Touch cleaning system for easy ash disposal, but the Weber quality still shines through, backed up by a 10 year limited warranty. Also in the Original range is the Original Kettle Premium, adding an enclosed ash catcher to allow you to remove the ashes cleanly and dispose of them with the minimum of fuss.
Whichever Weber Kettle barbecue you go for, you know you're buying a fantastic grill, with a heritage which is unrivalled.
