- Boil the peas in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain them and transfer them to a small bowl.
STEP 2- Create the Pattie Mixture:
- In a separate bowl, take the mashed potatoes and add the boiled peas.
- Add 4 tablespoons of breadcrumbs, cornflour, grated ginger, chopped coriander leaves, finely chopped green chilli, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, lemon juice, a pinch of sugar, and salt.
- Mix all the ingredients together to create a smooth dough-like mixture.
STEP 3- Form the Patties:
- Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into small-sized balls.
- Take one ball and gently press it between your palms to create a round-shaped, 1/2-inch thick pattie.
STEP 4- Coat with Breadcrumbs:
- Place 4 tablespoons of breadcrumbs on a plate.
- Coat each prepared pattie with breadcrumbs on all sides by rolling it in the breadcrumb-filled plate.
STEP 5- Repeat and Prepare More Patties:
- Repeat the above steps for the remaining balls to create more patties.
STEP 6- Shallow Fry the Patties:
- Heat a non-stick flat pan (tawa) or griddle.
- Once the pan is hot, drizzle 2-3 teaspoons of oil over it.
- Place 3-4 patties in the pan and cook until the bottom surface turns golden brown.
STEP 7- Flip and Cook:
- Flip each pattie upside down, drizzle some oil around its edges, and cook until the second side also turns golden brown.
- Depending on the size of your pan, you can shallow fry more than 3-4 tikkis at a time.
